what is a watch party?

It’s a joyful gathering, a salu-salo, where the global Filipino come together, either online or in person, to watch The Filipino Story! Whether you’re joining from your screen or sitting next to each other, it’s a Pinoy reunion at heart, filled with food, fun and family, all while reconnecting with our shared Filipino identity.

A Watch Party isn’t just about watching. It’s about celebrating who we are, together. One people, on the same journey, on the same boat.

what do i need to throw a watch party?

1. Pick your episode(s). We highly recommend watching The Animated Series.  Then pick a few more favorites from the reels and long forms.
2. Choose how you will gather. In person or online, it’s up to you!
3. Invite your circle! Send a clear and friendly invite—make sure to include the date, time (don’t forget the time zones if you’re online!), place or link, and simple instructions on how to join.
4. Bring munchies. Potluck! Ask everyone to bring their favorite merienda or pika-pika. What is a Filipino gathering without food?

That’s it! It doesn’t have to be fancy…just heartfelt. Gather your kababayans, press play, and let’s celebrate The Filipino Story together.

how do i host?

You don’t need to be an expert! Whether you’re gathering online or in person, it’s all about creating a welcoming vibe where everyone feels at home. Here’s some things to consider once you’ve scheduled your event:

1. Set up your streaming. Stream through YouTube or The Filipino Story website. Test your connection and make sure it’s ready!
2. Keep the energy Filipino-style. For online parties, start with a countdown. Keep the chat lively with kwentuhan (storytelling), kulitan (playful banter), and lots of laughter. For in-person parties, enjoy the food, swap stories and don’t be afraid to live in the moment! It’s all about feeling like one big family.
3. Most Importantly…ENJOY IT! Do not worry about being the perfect host. Just bring your warm Filipino heart, and the rest will follow!
